Maple Mehndi uses only natural henna, consisting of certified organic henna leaf powder, tea, lemon, maple syrup and pure essential oils. This creates a stain that beings very orange, and oxidises to a deep red/brown. Henna that is known to stain black right away contains a chemical called Paraphenyladiamine, also known as PPD. This is a tar based dye found in some chemical hair dyes, NOT something you want on your skin! “Black Henna” can cause liver damage, blisters and can permanently scar the skin. Even when traveling to traditional henna using countries, be sure and ask what’s in the henna paste. Just because someone is ethnic, does not guarantee they are using safe henna.
Black henna is not a risk you want to take.
